Western Colorado & Cedaredge RecreationLet the fun begin! The western slope of Colorado has more recreational opportunities than almost anywhere in the world. What is your passion? This is the area where the Rocky Mountains meet the spectacular canyonlands, unlike anywhere in the entire world. These areas include the Grand Mesa National Forest, Uncompahgre Plateau, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, the Escalante/Dominguez Conservation/Wilderness Areas and the beautiful West Elk Range. This gives you virtually unlimited hiking, biking, fishing and camping, rock climbing, horseback riding, hunting and exploring opportunities. We also have over 13 golf courses within an hours drive of Cedaredge with many style of courses. Its not unusual to go skiing in the morning on the Mesa and come back and golf in the afternoon at the Deer Creek Village Golf Course in Cedaredge. This entire area is a recreation wonderland so let Cedaredge and Delta County Colorado be your recreation headquarters. This is one of the best places to live and play in Colorado.
The largest playground is, with Cedaredge in Delta County as its gateway, the Grand Mesa National Forest. The unique and amazing Grand Mesa is the largest table top mountain in the world with over 65 square miles of camping, hiking, fishing, hunting snf biking. The winter is a wonderland with downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing. The Grand Mesa Nordic Council grooms trails for all the Nordic Enthusiasts that enjoy the blue sky days on the Mesa. Several old-style lodges exist on the Grand Mesa, including the Spruce Lodge and restaurant overlooks several lakes only 25 minutes from Cedaredge. Powderhorn Ski Area is approximately 40 minutes away. Dog Sled Races are a sanctioned event every winter.
Cedaredge has the Deer Creek Village Golf Course which hosts a park-like front nine and an incredibly challenging back nine with spectacular views of the San Juan and West Elk Mountains. Southwest of Cedaredge is the Adobe Badlands with unlimited dirt biking and ATV trails plus highly rated Devil's Thumb Golf Course 20 minutes away - all in Delta County Colorado.

Robert Frost Find those miles & miles of paved roadsby riding and winding through the apple and peach orchard operations and ranches around the Cedaredge area. This wonderful vista which makes it quite delightful for bike riders as they travel around every bend with various fruit trees and elk and horse ranches. This road bike rider stops to look at the apple tree orchard on Happy Hollow Road in Cedaredge on a clear September morning during a several hour bike ride. The apples are weeks away from picking. The lack of traffic makes bike riding in this area a complete joy. Unlimited bike rides both challenging and easy can be found around Cedaredge. The one of the most challenging is to ride uphill on Highway 65 to the "Visitors Center" on the Grand Mesa. BLM in Delta County is putting the finishing touches on "Sidewinder" an 22 mile bike trail that will go along the edge of the Gunnison Gorge Conservation Land. This single track trail will thrill bike enthusiasts of all ages and is widely anticipated to open late summer of 2010. Western Colorado has incredible bike and mountain bike trails from Cortez, the San Juans, the Uncomphgre Plateau to Grand Junction & Fruita. Bring you bike and enjoy hundreds of miles of road or mountain biking! Powderhorn Ski Resort has over 250" of snow each year, bringing skiers and boarders from all over western Colorado. Powderhorn is family-oriented and has also become known as a forest-friendly ski area. In its unique location, where the desert meets the mountain, Powderhorn is best known for its stress-free atmosphere and variety of terrain. Nestled on the edge of the Grand Mesa, Powderhorn majestically sits at 4,000 feet above the valley floor. The views are spectacular. Cruise the corduroy, disappear into the aspens for the glade or tree skiing, Everyone has their own secret trail or powder stash so come discover yours! And at the end of the day you can relax in one of our restaurants or soak up the sun on the large daylodge deck. The main lodge area hosts a full-service bar and fireplace...a wonderful place to sit and drink hot chocolate or your beverage of choice and watch the world ski by! Fishing: besides the numerous lakes on the Grand Mesa. Pleasure Park, about 25 minutes from Cedaredge, is located in the Gunnison Gorge on the Gunnison River where the North Fork meets the main Gunnison. Pleasure Park has cabins and guided fishing tours. This portion of the Gunnison River hosts some of the finest gold medal fishing in the state, dominated by rainbow and brown trout.
